1. Payroll Remittance Deadlines
The CRA is strict: these payments MUST be on time.

Regular Remitters: If your average monthly withholding is under $25,000, your payment is due by the 15th of the following month.

Quarterly Remitters: Small employers with a “perfect compliance record” and less than $3,000 in monthly withholdings may be eligible to pay every three months.

Threshold Change: If your payroll grows and your withholdings exceed $3,000/month, the CRA may move you from Quarterly to Monthly reporting.

2. WorkSafeBC (WCB) Reporting
For 2026, WorkSafeBC has moved to a 100% paperless system. You will no longer receive forms in the mail.

Annual Reports: Your 2025 Annual Payroll Report is due by February 28, 2026.

Quarterly Payments: If your annual premiums are over $2,000, payments are due on the 20th of the month following the quarter (April 20, July 20, etc.).

Maximum Earnings: The 2026 maximum assessable earnings per worker is $127,500. You don’t pay premiums on anything above this!
Why it matters: If you don’t stay up-to-date, WorkSafeBC can refuse you access to job sites, stop your employees from working, and even contact your clients directly to request funds from your unpaid invoices.

4. B.C. Employer Health Tax (EHT) 2025/2026
New thresholds employers are exemption is $1,000,000 if the BC Remuneration is under $1,500,000 or over $1,500,000 no EHT exemption.

Under $1,500,000: B.C. Remuneration is between $1,000,001 to $1,500,000 EHT Tax Rate is 5.85%(over 1m) with the exemption

Over $1,500,000: B.C. Remuneration is between over $1,500,000 EHT Tax Rate is 1.95% no exemption
- Charties/Non-Profits: B.C. Remuneration Rate over $1,500,000 to $4,500,000 2.925% no exemption
